Button-Up Nappies
Button-Up Nappies are a revolution! Their unique design combines the convenience
of a Pull-Up Nappy (for all but the smallest size), with comfort and great
absorbency.
A Button-Up Nappy is designed to be highly absorbent, as well as comfortable
to wear and easy to wash & dry. The outside of each Button-Up Nappy
has soft, thick cotton terry towelling to provide great absorbency, the
inner has a layer of 'stay-dry' 100% polyester fleece inner. The fleece
is completely sewn in to the nappy, so there is no need for a separate liner.
As well as providing a 'stay-dry' layer to keep your child's bottom dry
and comfortable, the layer of fleece is great for adding some colour, and
maybe a pattern, to a nappy!
Button-Up Nappies come in two styles, depending on the size you choose.
The 1m+ Button-Up Nappy. For young babies, it is important that a nappy is absorbent without being bulky, trim but with room for growth, and comfortable but with good containment. To reduce bulk on a small baby, the 1m+ sized Button-Up Nappy is made with an inner 'stay dry' layer of polyester fleece (to keep that little bottom really dry and comfortable), and one layer of lovely thick cotton terry towelling. This may be enough absorbency by itself for a young baby who is being changed very frequently. For more absorbency, you can add the booster pad made with two layers of the same terry towelling (supplied with the nappy), or any other boosting (such as a folded muslin for less bulk). For extra boosting, you can purchase additional booster pads separately (these will be needed for an overnight nappy for example). The top front of the nappy is open, allowing the booster pads to be slipped inside the nappy. Keeping the boosters separate means its easier to wash this nappy and quicker to dry as well.
The 1m+ Button-Up Nappy is cut especially for younger, smaller babies. It will fit babies from around 1 month old, (approximately 10lb in weight). It has 4 sets of buttons, so that a huge range of sizes can be accommodated in one nappy - perfect for when your little bundle of joy starts growing! For a smaller baby, the nappy can be fastened onto its smallest setting, and the front of the nappy turned over to further reduce its size. This will be held in place by the nappy wrap.
12m+, 18m+ and 3y+ Button-Up Nappy. The larger sizes of Button-Up Nappy are designed to be used as a Pull-Up cloth nappy. They are elasticated around the legs, back and front edges for a close fit and good containment when the nappy is soiled. They have lots of stretch to enable the nappy to be easily pulled up and down.
On the front of each Button-Up Nappy are stitched 8 buttons, 4 on each side. These are used to fasten the Button-Up Nappy with the four elastic loops that are sewn into the top and bottom of the front side seams. This means each fastening can have 2 different size settings. The cut of the Button-Up is slim between the legs and high on the hips for the ease of movement needed with (and often demanded by!) a more active, older child.
As with the 1m+ Button-Up, soft & absorbent cotton terry towelling provides great absorbency, whilst 100% polyester fleece provides a colourful and fun stay-dry layer which will keep your child dry and comfortable.
The Button-Up Nappy has an inner booster made of the same thick cotton terry towelling, which 'flops out' to allow the nappy to dry much more quickly. This booster flap tucks down inside the nappy under the fleece when its ready to wear. The opening for the booster also allows extra boosting to be placed inside the nappy, making it even more absorbent and so ideal for overnight.
When you order your Button-Up Nappy, you have a range of fleece colours and patterns to choose from. You can also choose the colour of the buttons.
PUL-Up Wrap
To complete the Pull-Up nappy system, we have the PUL-Up Wrap. It is made from PUL (which stands for 'polyurethane laminate'), which is light and soft, and yet totally waterproof and breathable as well. The wide elastic bindings at the legs and waist are soft and comfortable (and come in a range of colours). The PUL-Up Wrap can be washed at 60C, along with nappies
The PUL-Up Wrap is sized to fit comfortably over a Button-Up Nappy with room for movement! It is available in 12m+, 18m+ and 3y+ sizes.
Dolls' Nappies
By popular request, we now have a range of Button-Up Nappies Doll's Nappies. They fasten with a more traditional Velcro (hook and loop) fastening (as buttons are designed to be too tricky for little fingers to undo!) These dolls' nappies will last much longer than the dolls' disposable nappies you can buy, and they can be washed and dried in exactly the same way as a full-sized nappy.
I've found that little 'Mums and Dads' love having nappies for their dolls just like the ones they, or younger siblings, wear. They are also very cute!
Button-Up Nappies Dolls' Nappies are made from one layer of the same thick terry I use on the full-size Button-Up Nappies, with a fleece lining. They have overlocked edges for trimness, and sport a 'Button-Up Nappy' sewn on label on the back - just like the real thing!
The nappies are available in two sizes:
Size 1 is for dolls who measures approx. 15" high and with a waist
of 10".
Size 2 will fit a baby doll who measures approx. 161/2"
high (which I believe includes dolls such as Baby Born & Baby Annabelle).
